Ultrasound technology offers a valuable opportunity to assess meat quality in live animals, providing real-time feedback on backfat, ribeye area, and marbling. However, due to the cost of the ultrasound process, many exhibitors may be unable to participate. With an incentive-driven educational initiative, we hope that 4-H and FFA members will fully utilize this data to improve their livestock selection and feeding/management decisions. Recognizing this gap, the Boulder County Junior Livestock Sale and Boulder County 4-H have implemented an ultrasound contest. Our goal is to improve livestock production.
We are deeply grateful to our sponsor for believing in our vision by helping us grow the Ultrasound Contest to a bigger and better educational class for our exhibitors.
