Unlike Most teams, We did not just select a spirit animal for our team name. No, we dove deep into the rich history of the City of Fort Worth to honor the hard working men and women that have severely impacted our countries history! We hope that you and your family will be proud to wear the Bomber name and represent the city of Fort Worth Texas!
After the attacks on Pearl Harbor, Tarrant Field’s name was changed to Fort Worth Army Airfield (now named NAS Fort Worth JRB / Carswell AFB). The base was quickly outfitted to house the manufacturing of the B-24 Liberator and to train the B-24 flight crew members. Throughout the war 2,743 B-24 Liberators were built right here in Fort Worth earning Air Force Plant 4 the nickname “Bomber Plant” and the surrounding neighborhood “Liberator Village” (now White Settlement).
In addition to the B-24 Liberators, Fort Worth would also produce 124 B-32 Dominators and almost 400 B-36 Peacemakers
The city of Fort Worth was extremely important to the success of the United States in WWII, and still continues that tradition today. Currently occupying the location of Air Force Plant 4 is Lockheed Martin where they utilize the facility to manufacture the F-35 Lightning. Today, we honor those that put forth this effort of establishing the plant and producing the B-24 Liberators by using the Bomber name and displaying the B-24 Liberator on some of our logos and team apparel.
