Open Boys and Girls Volleyball

On Thursday the 7th, the boys and girls team participated in the Shoalhaven Zone Volleyball Gala Day at the Bomaderry Basketball Stadium. For many of the students, this was their first tournament. Both the boys and girls had a lot of fun and gave it their best shot. Both the boys and girls teams came up against strong schools first. Ulladulla and Nowra were the winners of the first two games, however, there was significant improvement between the first and second games for both teams and this was obvious as most sets were decided by 5 points or less. Both the boys and girls played their third games against Vincentia. The boys had been building towards something all day and their persistence was rewarded with a strong victory over Vincentia. The girl’s team was trending in the same direction, however, just fell short and were narrowly beaten in their third game. Mr. Host and Mr. McElhinney would like to thank all the students for their time, hard work and participation throughout the course of the day.

Tennis Success

A number of students from Bomaderry High School have participated this week in the Individual Combined High School’s (CHS) Tennis Championships, held at Parramatta.

At the time of writing this article not all student results have been finalised. Students competing in the junior events, boys and girls, will be published in the next edition.

Harrison.G of Year 12 participated in the Open Boys Singles Titles. He commenced the tournament as the 22nd seed in the 128 person draw based on his Australian Men’s ranking. BHS is proud to announce that he has achieved outstanding success making it through to the round of 8, placing him in the top 8 players in New South Wales. On his way through the tournament he defeated the 12th seed in the 3rd round and he also had one of his best ever victories of his short career defeating the 2nd seed, who is ranked in Australia’s top 200 men.

Harrison has now been selected in the NSW CHS ‘A’ team to represent NSW later in the month at Bathurst.

Fantastic work Harrison!
