PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

This week saw us hold another extremely successful ‘Open Evening’ showcasing the very best of what Bomaderry High School has to offer. My thanks to our wonderful students and staff who contributed to this amazing evening. And can I also thank Mrs Parsons for her outstanding and ongoing coordination of this annual event. Please read the Deputy Principals’ report to find out more information about our dedicated staff and fantastic students.

Our teachers and office staff continue to contact parents in relation to their child’s absences from school and we thank parents for their assistance with this matter. If your child is absent from school for an illness that may be communicable, I urge you to seek medical attention as soon as possible so that all precautions can be arranged. I refer you to the NSW Health website for further information.

I again bring your attention to the unnecessary use of the school driveway for dropping off and picking up students before and after school. This continues to be an issue of student and staff safety. Please refrain from entering the school grounds at these busy times and I thank you once again for your cooperation in this matter.

Deputys' Report

Bomaderry High School has again been a hive of activity over the past fortnight.

Open Night was a huge success with many prospective future students and parents (some of whom are Bomaderry High alumni) enjoying the many displays, tours, presentations and demonstrations organised by students under the guidance of staff. Parent comments included:

'Great night! All the staff are so enthusiastic and obviously enjoy being here. I can't believe they worked all day and then manage to do this. They must love their job.'

'This school has a great feel to it and your students are lovely.'

'I like this school, it has a good vibe. Very nice staff and students.'

'The students are so nice and obviously love their school.'

Following Open Night, Staff attended a Training evening the following night in which they explored the effective practice for Stage 6 assessment, first aid training in anaphylaxis and emergency first aid care. These are all important aspects for teachers helping to create ‘a quality experience’ for our students.

A reminder, the Year 7 Parent ‘welcome breakfast’ is scheduled for 8am on Tuesday 19th March 2019 in B Block. It is a wonderful opportunity for staff and parents to meet and discuss the progress of our Year 7 students in an informal environment.

Congratulations to our many sporting and academic teams and individuals who have shone over the past weeks. A special mention must go to our Year 12 Geography Class who spent the week exploring the topography of the Kosciuszko National Park in preparation for their HSC. Word has it that the students were exceptionally well behaved and appreciated the time and effort made by Mr Kelly and Ms McCarthy who gave of their own time to make this event happen.
