Frequently asked Questions
Enlistment
Q: What does the Scientific Department do?
A: The Scientific Department is tasked with experimenting on anomalous entities contained on-site, and later describing the acquired results
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How can I join the Scientific Department?
A: You can apply for the department through our application. The applications are posted in the main SCF Discord server in #enlistment. Applications are open all week and close on the weekend for reading.
Testing
Q: How do I perform a test?
A: Refer to the "Conducting Tests" part of the Code of Scientific Research.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How do I "log" a test?
A: Refer to the #test_information at the main ScD Discord server. Make sure to fill out the form precisely and include as much detail as possible. You are also highly suggested to use formal technical language when writing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What SCPs am I allowed to test/cross-test on?
A: Refer to the SCP Database on this site. You can see what SCPs you can test on within your rank limit. If you want to cross-test SCPs then both (or more) SCPs must be in your rank limitations.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What do the different parts of the test log form mean?
A: "Testing Procedures" is for describing how your test took place, what happened there, what did you notice. "Test Results" is for taking conclusions from your testing procedures, in short, you write a summary of what you learned from that test. "Evidence" is for screenshots/images/videos from your test.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Can I take spectators for my test?
A: Make sure you know what your spectator limit is. You can find this in the Code of Scientific Research. Also, make sure your spectators have the right clearance to spectate the SCP you are testing on. The "Clearance" in the SCP Database is the clearance your spectators need. If cross-testing, then the SCP with the highest clearance level is the clearance your spectators need.
