Safety Services
Always First, Always Ready, Always There.
History In 1946, Dr. Jose Carillo, former Manila Red Cross Chapter Administrator came to Cagayan de Oro to organize and establish a Red Cross Chapter for Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon, The chapter was first housed at the Divisoria Superintendent’s office with Cesario Gaane as officer-in-charge. A noteworthy achievement of the chapter was the construction of the Red Cross building on the 2,729 square meter lot donated by the Misamis Oriental Provincial Government in 1956. The construction was financed through fund campaigns and donations from civic-spirited citizens. The chapter was rated outstanding in the promotion of home nursing services in 1969,1970,1971 and 1978. Thousands of malnourished children benefited from supplementary feeding programs supported by the ICRC through donations of skimmed milk powder, biscuits and rolled oats, World War II veterans and their dependents also received assistance. From 1967 to 1984, the chapter was able to provide, 2,881 cases of burial aid, hospitalization, mercy flights and other assistance. The chapter also provided the social history and health services reports to military authorities in connection with enlisted personnel’s request for emergency or leave of absence, discharge and furloughs. The local chapter also promoted and carried out educational programs to insure the safety of bathers through the implementation of its safety educational program. For the last 55 years, the old PRC Mis Or-CdO Chapter building has stood as silent witness to the steadfast delivery of essential services to countless people , especially the vulnerable: 1) blood services; 2) disaster management and relief services; 3) safety and social services; 4) Community health and nursing services; and various other voluntary services including the massive campaign for Membership with Accident Assistance Benefits (MAAB). After 55 years since its donation from the Misamis Oriental Government, we finally got the two titles to the 2,729 sq. m lot last February 2010, thru the purposive efforts of Chapter Administrator Casimira V. Balandra and Chair Jose N. Nebrao. Our training program today includes emergency courses on Standard First Aid, Basic Life Support, Water Safety, Disaster Response and Accident Prevention/Mitigation. Among the Chapter Chairpersons who served the local Chapter prominently from 1946 to the present are as follows: Director Roque C. Chaves 1956-64 Director Ernesto B. San Juan 1989-90 Director Ester D. Causin 1964-66 Director Diamar P. Kadon 1991-92 Director Emilio C. Dayrit 1967-69 Director J. Miguel C. De Jesus 1992-93 Director Claudio C. Aguilar 1971-75 Director Cesilo A. Adaza 1994-2000 Director Gonzalo Go 1976-82 Director Jose N. Nebrao 2001-2010 Director Sofia H. Velez 1983-84 Dir. Atty. Antonio S. Soriano 2010- present Director Adrian C. Pabayo 1985-88
