Password is a digital lock that protects our privacy and data. It is a string of characters in coded form. It is also known as a passcode, secret word, and OTP (One-Time-Password). There is a distinction between passwords and OTP. Password is a minimum 8 character encrypted code while OTP is based on 4 to 6 numerals only. Passwords can remain intact till it is protected while OTP is generated afresh every time by some agency to authenticate our records. OTP is used as an authentication tool.
Every year FIRST THURSDAY in the Month of MAY is celebrated as World Password Day. A strong password is formed using the alphabet, numeral, and special character having a minimum of 8 characters. Fernando J. Corbató was an American pioneer in the field of computer science who is best known as the father of the password.
