SPRING/SUMMER LONG COURSE BLAZE SEASON: To continue swimming, please register for the upcoming Blaze season that begins April 6.
The first practice is exciting — and sometimes a little nerve-wracking. This page walks you through exactly what to expect so you and your swimmer can arrive confident and prepared.Â
Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before practice begins. The pool is often used by other groups until our scheduled start time, and swimmers are not allowed on the deck early.
If you arrive late, that's okay – your swimmer can join practice when they get there.
When you arrive, please have your swimmer check in with a coach before heading to their lane. This helps us account for swimmers and keep practices organized and safe.
After checking in:
Swimmers should place their equipment in their assigned lane
Swimmers should shower before entering the pool
This is a standard pool hygiene rule and helps keep the pool clean for everyone.
Parents are welcome to watch practices from the bleachers.
For safety and supervision reasons:
Parents should not sit on the pool deck
Parents should only come onto the deck in case of an emergency
If you need to leave and return later, that's fine – coaches have emergency contact information for all swimmers.

Each swimmer will receive one free Blaze swim cap during their first week of practice. Please ask a coach if you haven't received one yet.Â
Additional caps are available for purchase. Swim caps can tear easily if not put on correctly, so we recommend reviewing proper cap placement.
Watch this video to learn how to properly put on a swim cap.
If your swimmer will miss practice, please email the coaching staff to let us know.
We do not offer refunds or make-up practices for missed sessions, and regular attendance is important for swimmer progress.
On occasion, we have to close the pool because of mechanical or chemical issues. If this happens, I will email and post on band to let you know the details of the closure. We do not do make ups or refunds for unexpected closures. Â
The Blaze schedule may change as the season progresses. You will notice in the top left corner of the PDF calendar that says “V1” and the date it was updated. Make sure you always have the most up to date copy. I will post the most updated calendar in Band, in email, and on our website.
High School swimming and meets sometimes get added or changed. If this happens, our Blaze practices will be affected. I will reach out via email and Band to notify everyone if this should happen. Â
