During the first semester of Biology, I learned how to better understand scientific ideas and think more carefully about how living things work. At the start of the class, some topics were challenging, especially learning new vocabulary and figuring out how different processes connect. Instead of just memorizing facts, I had to actually understand the material and be able to explain it. Over time, this got easier as I became more familiar with the class structure.
As the semester went on, I became more confident in my biology skills. One area where I improved the most was reading diagrams, graphs, and lab results. I loved doing the Gizmo labs and they helped reinforce what we were learning. My favorite lab was the Homeostasis lab where you could adjust the aspects of the exercise.
Another assignment I really enjoyed was the Photosynthesis project. I am actually going to make my own terrarium and try to have it self-sustained. The best part of this semester was realizing that I could understand harder topics. Overall, this class helped me build better study habits and gave me a strong base for future science classes.
