Collaborative Relationships

The competent teacher builds and maintains collaborative relationships to foster cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social and emotional development. This teacher works as a team member with professional colleagues, students, parents or guardians, and community members.

Email Parent Communication: This artifact highlights an email to my cooperating teacher about a parent phone call I had to notify the parent of student absences and to hopefully find a solution to ensure the students academic success.

Performance Indicator 8Q states that the competent teacher establishes respectful and productive relationships with parents or guardians and seeks to develop cooperative partnerships to promote student learning and well-being.

It is always important to reach out as early as possible when red flags occur. Parents don't want to be contacted when its too late therefore reach out early to keep good relationships with the parents and communication lines open.
