Bitterne Shed Club (BSC) is like a typical garden shed providing a place where men can make or mend things, but in the company of other men. Group working has been shown to improve both mental and physical health, giving the opportunity to exchange knowledge and skills whilst enjoying chat and banter with other members. Members undertake projects for the community, individuals and themselves using an increasing array of tools.
We are open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30am to 12:00, next to the Mazda Garage on the junction between Bursledon Road and Whites Road, Bitterne, Southampton, SO19 7NP. (What3Words: blunt.crib.richer)
Currently Wednesday is the main day of the week when it is pretty certain that two or more of the committee members will be present to answer any questions you may have as a prospective member.
We have 33 paid up members for 2024-2025 (our membership year runs from 1st July each year), nearly all of whom are actively involved in the club. Some are extremely skilled (as you can see from elsewhere on this website), but woodworking skills are not required. Others are learning, and there are still others whose main talents are elsewhere. So do not be put off, even if you have no woodworking competence at all.
Full Membership for 2024-2025 is £30 per year or Associate Membership is £2 per session attended. Visitors £2 per session. Now that over half the year has passed (the membership year runs from 1st July each year), today's new full members will just pay pro rata. In other words, those joining in April pay for just a quarter of a year (£7.50), from April to June 2025.

Here we are on Google Maps
We are to the right of the Mazda garage
This really is the entrance ... and it is possible on a wheelchair
Right through the gate
... and here is our main space ... our main container is (or at least was, until a recent short move around the site) just behind the gazebo ... but if the weather permits, most people prefer to work outside ...
... but here are inside views of our main container, showing the inside working area, tools, etc ...
NB - since these pictures were taken, our containers have been moved, albeit not very far - have a look at "At present at the shed club" page. There will be more information, when we get to our final home (somewhere else, but still on the same site).
