WHICH term works best, winter term, full semester or summer?

Students majoring in the sciences often broaden their undergraduate educational experience by participating in winter term or summer term international study courses which provide an intensive short period of study that does not interrupt their 8 semester graduation plan.  Some students choose winter term courses that allow them to explore their interests in other cultures, languages and regions of the world while others choose courses that can count as electives within their major (e.g., Field Biology in Peru or Field Biology in Belize).  Others choose to lengthen their time abroad by enrolling in semester-abroad programs.

The decision about whether to study abroad for a winter, summer, or a semester is entirely determined by the individual student.  Students majoring in any of the 3 concentrations within the biology major (Integrative Concentration, Foundations in the Medical Sciences concentration, and Molecular Biology/Biotechnology concentration) can design their 4 year course of study to permit a winter term abroad, a semester-abroad, a summer term, and even all 3 international experiences with thoughtful planning and the assistance of their Biology Department faculty advisor.
