WHERE have recent Biology majors studied abroad for a semester?

Over the years, biology majors with a focus on integrative biology and field study have participated in field-oriented semester-abroad programs including several operated by the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) and the School for Field Studies.  In the last two years, Elon students enrolled in Wildlife Ecology & Management Studies in Tanzania and Kenya (SFS), African Ecology & Conservation in Kruger National Park South Africa (OTS), Marine Resource Management Studies in Turks and Caicos Islands (SFS), and the Sea Semester Program out of Woods Hole, Massachusetts (non-Elon program).  Some have even used the summer to complete international internship experiences at marine labs in Belize and South Africa.

Other students with concentrations in Foundations in the Medical Sciences or Molecular Biology/Biotechnology have completed on-campus experiences at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia, the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and the Danish Institute for Study Abroad in Copenhagen

Biology majors interested in foreign language acquisition have completed semester-abroad programs at Berlin University in Germany (Duke Program) and Universidad de Sevilla in Spain (Elon program).  The choice of where to study is based upon the program focus (biomedicine, medical practice and policy, biodiversity conservation, language/culture studies, etc.), location (Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Africa, Australia, etc.), and student interest.
