File organisation

Here is an overview of important files located on your Garmin device and how they are organised:

• Maps
• Way Points, Routes and Traces
• Trips

and located on different location:

• on the internal memory
• on the external memory (SD card)

Those files are used by different tools:

• GPS device (to import way points, import routes, and convert them into trips, delete way points and trips)
• Windows Explorer (to view and manage files directly on the memory)
• Garmin Express (to update maps on your Garmin device)
• BaseCamp (to send files to your Garmin device)
