Pharmacy Tech
Pharmacy Tech
Program: Jumpstart! to Pharmacy is a series of workshops designed in collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee and the Southwest Milwaukee Consortium for high school juniors and seniors taught by Concordia University Wisconsin School of Pharmacy (CUWSOP) faculty and students. These workshops provide an opportunity for students to improve their understanding of medicine and gain practical skills in medication management relevant to careers in pharmacy or healthcare generally (see goals below).
Jumpstart! Program Goals: Participants will have an increased understanding of…
• pathways for healthcare careers with a focus on medication therapy,
• careers in pharmacy: technicians and pharmacists, and
• skill development for medical and pharmacy/pharmaceutical labs.
Students who complete the approximately 16 hours of workshop instruction will improve their credentials for pharmacy employment as a Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician Youth Apprenticeship (necessary if under age 18) or to provide evidence of a medically-focused educational experience in application to college degree programs.
There is no cost to attend, due to the generosity of donors and a past award from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation to CUWSOP; however, space is limited.
