The BGCGM Brighter Futures Program prepares teens for their futures through career development opportunities such as occupational skills trainings, job readiness trainings, social emotional development, career explorations and more. The Brighter Futures program gives our students all the tools they need to prepare for their successful futures. To learn more about what we offer, go to the Opportunities and Program Elements page!

On this page you will find the calendar for all Brighter Futures events happening this month. Because this is a calendar of all events that are being hosted by us, there will be events that you did not express personal interest in that are listed on this form. To learn more about the event that you are interested in or to sign up click on the hyperlinked title.

🌿 Environmental Internship (NEW-ish + ACTIVE)

Riveredge Nature Center

Environmental Exploration High School Internship (Milwaukee students)
Runs June 2025 – May 2026 (rolling/ongoing)
Hands-on work in:
- Conservation
- Environmental education
- Outdoor careers
Includes weekly training + skill-building

ArtWorks for Milwaukee

Year-long paid internships in arts & skill-building for high school students. (ArtWorks for Milwaukee)

Milwaukee’s Finest Scholarship Foundation (MFSF)

They have internships (marketing, event planning, communications etc.) with a non-profit basis. (Milwaukee's Finest)

Even though many of their internships are unpaid and/or require a longer commitment, you can contact them (email their internship coordinator) to ask if there’s anything available during the school year. (Milwaukee's Finest)

Juniors and Seniors

Earn & Learn through Summer Youth Internship Program

Youth must be between age 16 (as of June 15, 2026) to 19 years-old.
- Priority is given to place high school juniors and seniors that have not previously participated in the program.
Applicants must live in the City of Milwaukee.

Interns earn $16.00 per hour.
Interns work Monday through Friday 20 hours per week. [A maximum of 160 hours for the duration of the internship
The internship work assignment begins Thursday, June 18th and ends Friday, August 14th.
Interns must commit to work the entire 8-week program. Applicants with plans for summer school, summer camps, family reunions, or who are unable to work the entire 8-week internship are asked not to apply.

MATC ReStart provides a scholarship for eligible returning students to pay off up to $1,500 of a past-due balance owed to the college for items such as tuition, books and other fees. ReStart is breaking down the barriers that stand between you and your dreams of going back to MATC.

FROEDTERT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Froedtert Memorial Hospital Scholarship is a new scholarship that provides MATC Healthcare Pathway students with help in covering costs necessary to complete their degree including tuition, required books and supplies, and licensure exams. This scholarship — which also includes a stipend, an incentive to keep progressing toward your degree, and access to emergency grant funding — is designed to help remove financial barriers to assist students in completing their degrees and enter the healthcare field. This scholarship is available to MATC Healthcare Pathway students pursuing an associate degree who have successfully petitioned in their program of study. Scholarships are limited in number based on available funds.
