In this lab, we used Photoshop to practice our skills using what we've learned In previous labs like making selections and creating non-destructive adjustment layers. This lab was about combining two photos again but using a mask to reveal or unmask one Image over another. We also use tools like the Blur Tool to smooth the edges of the unmasked Image with the main Image.
This Image will be the main background Image of the final product. I chose this image because I wanted to make a sort of "portal" to another Image. I really liked the grand effect of the angle of this photo and the gate edges are great for blending the masked Image. The photo was taken In Madrid, Spain by Benjamin Gallegos.
This second image was what I chose to make the Image that I would mask onto the original Image #1. The forest elements were an important factor in the Image. I think the theme contrasts nicely with the first Image. I wanted this portal to the forest to be kind of "magical" In a way. I also think the pathway In the Image fits well with the gate of the 1st Image.
This Image Is the final product of the lab. It Is a combination of both original Images above numbered 1 - 2 using a mask and other blending tools. The park gateway was used as the mask area and the forest path was the main section of the original Image #2 that I wanted to mask Into Image #1. This result started with several small edits like using the Clone Stamp Tool to remove the legs of the Individuals walking Into the park gates and the biker, as this would not be needed In the final Image. I then embedded the second Image onto the first and moved It a layer lower to complete a Layer Mask. I used the Polygonal Lasso Tool to make the appropriate selection to fill In with Black to reveal the forest Image In the mask. I then used both the Blur Tool and the Refine Edge Brush Tool to smooth out the rough edges of the Images. The result of the Images Is a very mystical entrance.
