In this lab, we used Photoshop to learn about the original lasso, magnetic lasso, and polygonal lasso tools for making design/image selections. We also learned about Photoshop Layers and Blend Modes to combine Images. The requirements for this lab were to resize two Images and use layers, lasso tools, and blend modes to combine two Images.
This Image was the first option I chose for the lab, I really liked the clear message of the sign and felt people would connect with It based on Its renown. My plan was to use this Image as the main Image that I would add another Image to with a "ghostly" effect. The image Is from Grand Canyon Village, Arizona taken by Benjamin Gallegos.
This Image was really soothing and Inviting with all of the neon lights and colors. I thought It would be a great contrast to the first Image and I was curious what the blending modes would do with the lighting. The image Is from Grand Canyon Village, Arizona taken by Benjamin Gallegos.
This Image Is the final product of the lab. It Is a combination of both original Images above numbered 1 - 2. The original Image #2 was used as the added layer to the original Image #1. The Images were both resized using the Crop Tool to focus on the main subject areas. The requirements were specific resolution sizes, to practice utilizing resizing on images to specific ranges. Then using the Polygonal Lasso Tool I selected the main area of the second Image that I was going to add as a new layer on top of the original Image #1. I used the Pin Light Blend Mode to create the "ghostly" effect and also the Blur Tool to smooth out the edges of the newly added layer.Â
