One of the things that I'm most proud of was the chance to host a brown bag on belonging. I've done a great deal of personal thinking on the matter, and it felt like a chance to share some thoughts. I should note that I was asked to share based on an article I wrote in Public Square Magazine, and felt it an honor.
Note that this is the presentation I gave, but not in front of BYU-Idaho--this was for a friend's podcast. Full explanation and resources here.
I've been at BYU-Idaho for three years and have attended three Spori summits. The food is good, the interactions are rich, but the best part is getting to talk about colleagues about what it means to be a great teacher and disciple of Jesus.
I am happy to make a reflection video if you would like lol, but I assure you that I have participated in full at every chance!
When I first arrived at BYU-Idaho, I asked a new colleague friend of mine how I can be successful--how I can really nail this thing. His response was to participate in informal groups on improving my craft. I immediately began participating in mastery learning discussions, the teaching and learning team, and anything else I could get my hands on. To the right, find my involvement in the BYU-Idaho Learning and Teaching Website. Note that the section header image is me at the 2023 Spori Summit with good friends!
Another example below: a collaboration between Lee Barney (engineering), Ben Woodruff (math), and me (teacher ed) for Faculty Conference. See the link below for a little more explanation.
BYU-Idaho hosts a blog on teaching and learning to which I regularly participate. (That's not an easy thing to show via the blog, so I searched for keyword "Pacini" and made a PDF of all the contributions and interactions I've made.)
