General Information
This course is designed for the high school student on an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Teachers deliver specially designed instruction in reading fluency, comprehension and written expression. Specially designed instruction is determined by a student’s individual IEP goals in the areas that apply: reading, writing, study/organization, social/emotional, or behavior. All school policies will be observed as outlined in the Student Planner.

Grading
Grading is based on a 100 point/percentage grading scale. There are 4 categories that a student’s English 10 grade will be organized by: formative, summative, final exam.
Reading Comp. = 30% Writing = 30% Summative Assessments= 30% Final Exam= 10%
Late and missed work policy
Per page 20 in the Student Handbook “A student is allowed one make up day for each day of absence. Failure to punctually complete missed assignments will result in the loss of credit for those assignments. Students should note that not all types of work can be made up (guest speakers, graded class discussions, etc.). Should this type of work occur on a date when a student has an excused absence, the assignment may be excused and not counted in the student’s grade OR an alternative assignment may be provided per the teacher’s decision.
Academic Integrity
Academic integrity speaks to a student’s commitment and responsibility to pursue scholarship honestly. Academic dishonesty is defined as any action or attended action that may result in creating an unfair academic advantage for oneself or an unfair academic advantage or disadvantage for any other student. A student shall not attempt to earn credit or receive a grade for coursework (tests, quizzes, assignments, discs, projects, essays) in a manner other than defined as acceptable by each instructor. Academic integrity violations are tracked throughout a student’s entire high school career (grades 9 – 12). Consequences for disregarding the above guidelines will follow the steps outlined in the Student Planner.
