English Assignment, Week of 5/18/20:

B Day, Tuesday:

  1. Read 40 Minutes
  2. Complete Active Reading Log #4 in Class Notebook or in a word doc (should only take about 5 minutes to complete)

Active Reading Log #4:

  1. The date, Reading Log #
  2. What page you are on in your book currently or minutes into your book. When do you predict you will finish your book? Or are you already done?

B Day, Thursday:

  1. Read (if you are still working on your book)
  2. Choose 1 creative assignment to complete from the list below or pitch something else! Due: 5/28 - Will have next Tuesday to catch up on all missing work.
    1. Create a movie poster based on your book. Who would star in the film? Who would direct? Include names of stars (characters), director (author), release date (publication date)
    2. Choose an interesting character from your book. Think of his/her likes and dislikes. Then think of a gift you would like to give him/her. Describe or illustrate the gift. Design a greeting card to go along with the gift in which you explain why you gave the gift.
    3. Make a playlist for your book. Include a minimum of 12 songs along with an explanation for each song choice (1 sentence).

English 10 Agenda (IRP):

Tuesday: Read 45 Minutes total today. Break up your reading after the first 15-20 minutes. Comment on the post in Microsoft Teams if you need help or have questions.

Friday: Task 1: Read 15 Minutes. Task 2: Create an A-Z List based on your book.

A-Z list is located in Teams under Active Reading Log

  • Read 30-35 Minutes (Monday & Thursday)
  • Complete the Active Reading Log located in Class Notebook (Microsoft Teams). Create an active log for Today's reading by answering the below questions

1. The date, Reading Log #/ Corresponding Journal Entry #

2. What page you are on in your book currently OR Minutes (audio books)

3. What did you already know about the subject of your book before reading today?

4. What did you learn about the subject of your book while reading today?

5. What new questions do you have after reading today?

  • As a whole class we will hold off on the IRP (independent reading project) until we meet again or are given further instruction to assign new material.
  • Continue reading your book if you have access to it! I will also post some books that can be found for free online under my resources/handout page

  • Finish Ch. 3 Silently and complete written responses 1-6
