New Jersey Bell magazine from June, 1965. This is my favorite of the NJ Bell magazines because it has so many great articles about the Bell System and New Jersey. The article about Patterson and its decline at the time seems very hopeful about the future, and knowing how the decades played out for the city makes me depressed. The mention of the chemical plant in Tom's River reads as darkly comedic foreshadowing, especially since it's touted as a huge positive for the city (for those of you who don't know, the chemical plant was responsible for turning Tom's River into one of the worst Superfund sites in the country). Overall, this magazine is a great read and an excellent snapshot of the past.
