Etiquette

We strongly believe that helping children understand what the expected behavior is BEFORE you go into a new situation will help them to be much more successful in fulfilling what is asked of them. Let’s not throw any surprises their way, and let’s help them be fully prepared for their performance.

To make sure our dancers understand the expectations of backstage etiquette, we ask all parents to appropriately share this section with your dancer.

  1. Disrespectful behavior is not tolerated and will be reported. Depending on the level of the behavior, and as a last resort, the dancer or family member may be removed from the show and taken to security.
  2. No fast or convenient store food is allowed backstage. While this may seem like a small thing, spills and stains cause damage to expensive costumes and belongings.
  3. All dancers must stay in their assigned area with their chaperones at all times. Dancers should never take it upon themselves to go anywhere, including a bathroom, without a chaperone.
  4. We ask that dancers use modesty in all costume changes. Older dancers should consider wearing a nude leotard under their costumes. Please remember: underwear is not allowed under costumes.
  5. Please remind your dancers to always say “Please” and “Thank You” to the stage manages and runners. When they enter a room to say which dance is next, everyone should get silent so they can hear. Then everyone should respond “Thank you!”
