The UK's Strategies for Biodiversity and Sustainability envisaged the creation of a Citizen's Environmental Network (CEN) to share knowledge and ideas about international conservation education (ICE). The CEN did not appear, probably because of the high cost of establishing and maintaining it.
This site introduces the Adaptable Blogging Cluster (ABC), which has been established on the Google Blogger platform by International Classrooms On Line to serve as a CEN. It is an adaptive micro learning, tool where students can upload authored information packages and download selected bite size pieces of content according to their ability level.
The ABC is a group of organisations, families or individuals that have signed up independently to Google Blogger. They participate in global conversations by creating free blogs and posts and inviting comments on the posts.
Examples Of Global Conversations
Human Rights
In the context of current events, what does it mean to be a human being in the Anthropocene, and how is our personhood affected by the world in which we live.
Global Health
Engaging dialogue about the health of populations worldwide by encouraging discussion of the current state of health in one's respective communities and elsewhere, how to improve the health of populations, and what it means to achieve equity in health for all.
Migrants and refugees
What circumstances motivate persons to migrate; the politics of resettlement, and issues of integration? Current events relating to contemporary migrant and refugee populations in one's home country and around the world will be discussed as well, sharing of personal experiences.
Environmental Justice
The world's most pressing environmental issues are the global climate regime, and potential solutions. Crises like global warming, air and water pollution, and depletion of natural resources have differential effects in different parts of the the world which makes for compare and contrast conversations across local and national values.
Cultural Connections
Our world is inextricably connected in many ways, impacting individuals and cultures. We'll engage in discussions of how interconnectedness has affected our lives such as study abroad experiences, sharing of culture (music, food, etc), and global citizenship.
Global Dynamics of Anti Blackness
The aim is to better understand the global histories and dynamics of anti-blackness and the social movements, political structures, economic systems, theologies and ideologies that perpetuate or resist them.
