It doesn't have to be this way. All of this can be avoided by understanding what to do and what not to do on railroads. Failure to follow rules can have several consequences:
YOU can be arrested for trespassing.
YOU WILL have a criminal record.
YOU can be killed INSTANTLY when hit from an oncoming train.
If you happen to survive, you risk permanent disability.
You can witness your friends die horribly and be charged with a felony.
YOU can disrupt rail traffic for hours and take emergency services away from those who need it.
YOU put a train crew at risk when the emergency brake is applied with the potential to cause a derailment and spill toxic cargo.
Safety applies to ALL types of trains.
YOU will be arrested for illegally riding freight trains.
YOU can be killed or seriously hurt boarding a moving train.
If nothing happens to you, you are very lucky. Stop and do not get complacent!
YOU can cause a major rail disaster if you tamper with railroad equipment.
If you choose to commit suicide, you can traumatize the engineers, train crew, first responders, and people in your town. Your family and friends need you ALIVE and not in a closed casket. People do care about you. It's hard to interact with them when you are dead.
