BANQUET (or BQT for short) is a 5 member dance and vocal unit formed in 2016.
Their website says: "The name "BANQUET" is derived from the Japanese style banquet/party ("utage" 宴=BANQUET). This form of 'party' is different from what people associate with parties overseas, it encompasses the Japanese spirit of "omotenashi" (a part of Japanese culture that entails entertaining guests and serving food and drinks). They combine their performance skills with unique Japanese elements, which creates a special kind of charm. Don't miss it!"
In line with this theme the fans of BANQUET are called "Cheers", which is both for 'cheering' them on but also the 'Cheers' at a banquet.
BANQUET does not fall into a specific genre of music. In terms of classification they fall under the 地下メンズ (male underground group) category. While officially classified as a 'dance & vocal group', BANQUET is a bit in the grey zone between dance/vocal and idol group. What does make them more of a dance & vocal group is the split of responsibilities (see below) and that more than just with their appearances, they seek to charm the audience with their personalities (and sense of humor) as well as performance skills.
The 5 members of BANQUET were scouted on the street and became a group after a mere 5 days later. The members of the group are: yusuke (who possesses a sweet, enticing voice), KaiTo (whose strong voice conveys a message) and dancers Toshi, GAKU and YUMA (who will occasionally take over hi/mid/low range parts, rap parts or the role of the MC). Toshi also does choreography for the group.
BANQUET is signed under Pleasure Entertainment. Their producer is called KameP (aka Kamei Fuminori).
BANQUET gets along well with fellow dance & vocal group WhiteA. The groups have done multiple two-man shows and are sometimes featured in each other's YouTube videos. They also have matching outfits, which they sometimes use for their Tokuten-kai (click HERE to find out more about 'Tokuten-kai'). The two groups also have a shared song called "INSPIRE", which was performed for the first time at their 2nd joint live show.
