Excellence In Education Awarded to Dee Swain
This year we were honored to present the Excellence In Education award to Dorothy "Dee" Swain, the school nurse at BES. This past year she worked tirelessly to keep all the students and staff safe, healthy, and learning. In addition her duties at school, Nurse Swain’s nights and weekends were spent on the phone with parents, principals, and colleagues to contact trace, support, and weigh lofty decisions. She provided parents with informational videos, monthly updates, and constant support, while maintaining regular reporting and weekly online training with the NH Department of Health and the CDC. Dee Swain has been a compassionate, reassuring presence for all and has truly served as an example for all.
At the June 15th School Board Meeting, we presented her with a plaque and personal check to honor her outstanding efforts. Thank you Nurse Swain!
Summer Essentials Bags for End 68 Hours of Hunger Recipients
Once again we collaborated with End 68 Hours of Hunger Barrington to provide children in our town with some summer essentials. We provided a bag of reading materials, sunblock, paper/markers, modeling clay, Mad Libs packet, bug repellent bracelets, headlamp (and batteries), shadow puppet handout, scratch art, and AAA activity maps (donated by AAA) for Barrington kiddos who participate in End 68 of Hunger. We wish them a safe, creative, and fun summer!
We would like to thank the Barrington Public Library's Board of Trustees for acquiring award-winning books for the middle school recipients.
Educator Appreciation 2021
We were thrilled to present the BMS educators with a “Java the Hut” coffee station on May 6th as part of Educator Appreciation Week. We hope everyone found something to give them a little FORCE throughout the day! Thank you Barrington PTA for inviting us to partake in an Educator Appreciation Week that was out of this world.
Community Collaboration to Honor excellence in education
On January 19th, 2021, we delivered 42 books to BMS, BES, and the ECLC to honor the recipients of the 2019-2020 Excellence in Education (awarded all teachers and staff in the Barrington schools to recognize their extraordinary efforts in the spring of 2020). Classroom teachers were invited to select a book about social justice, diverse perspectives, and inclusion; books were also presented to the school libraries to honor the staff. Twelve generous community members joined BSF to acquire the books, making this a community collaboration to thank our town's amazing educators.
