During the Housing Lottery, a live Google Sheet will be provided below to show which rooms and suites are still available to be picked.
2026 Available Suites & Rooms and Lottery Numbers (Google Sheet)
Link will be posted during Spring Break
Update Frequency: The Sheet will update approximately every 15 minutes during the Lottery to reflect real-time selections.
Access Requirement:
You must be logged into your Barnard gBear account to access the Google Sheet.
Access to the Google Sheet for Columbia students will be added for their LionMail account after the Intent Form deadline.
If you are logged into a personal Gmail account, you will receive an "Access Denied" error and will NOT be able to view the document.
What is Included on the List:
Available Spaces: The sheet displays rooms available to select by Individuals and Groups, as well as entire suites available for Groups.
Tracking: The sheet also shows the number of groups forming for the Lottery and records which spaces have been picked.
What is Not Included: If a room or suite is not listed on the Google Sheet, it is not available to pick during the Lottery. Spaces may be omitted because they have been:
Pre-assigned to Resident Assistants (RAs) and their Pull-Ins.
Pre-assigned to students with CARDS Pre-Lottery Accommodations.
Reserved for later CARDS accommodations (rooms with accessibility features like strobe alarms, semi-private bathroom, etc).
Reserved to balance the Barnard/Columbia Housing Exchange.
Reserved for new First Year students (i.e. specific floors in Hewitt).
To see what types of spaces Individuals can pick vs. Groups, please visit the Individuals & Groups pages.
Note: You must be logged into gBear to access these Google Sheets.
Important Note on Historical Data: Previous housing lotteries followed a different format based on Group Size (i.e. the 4, 5, 6, and 123 Lottery).
New Format: The 2026 Lottery runs as a single process based on Point Value.
Result: Selections this year may not follow the exact same patterns as previous years.
Typical Selection Patterns: While patterns may change, it is historically the case that:
Students usually pick all Single rooms before selecting all the Doubles or Triples.
Students usually pick all the suites made up of only Single rooms before picking all the suites that contain Doubles.
