FOR HUMANITIES STUDENTS
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering, science and humanities for admission into the Masters Program and Recruitment by some Public Sector Companies. GATE is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and six other Indian Institutes of Technology at Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Chennai, Roorkee & Indian Institute of Science at Bengaluru on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
Aspirants will be allowed to select any one of the subjects from English, Philosophy, Economics, Linguistics, Psychology, and Sociology depending on their qualifying degree.
GATE 2021 is not just for engineers only, students from humanities background will also be eligible to appear for the test. Aspirants will also have the option to appear for two subjects from this year onwards.
With the introduction of the two new subjects- Humanities and Social Science (XH) and Environmental Science and Engineering (ES), the total subjects has increased to 27.
