Best Per forming Senior Referee on Grand Final Day/s

At our Centenary Dinner in June 2015, Matthew was recognised as one of the 6 greatest referees the Balmain Referees Association has ever produced. Some of Matthew achievements are as follows

• Refereed more First Grade Games than any other Balmain Referee

• Officiated in more NRL games (on-field, when including his 169 NRL lines) than any other Balmain Referee

• More State of Origin and Test Matches than any other Balmain Referee

•  Second most First Grade Grand Final Appointments (centres and lines) than any other Balmain Referee, except Max Tomsett (lines)

• Most Grand Final Referee Appointments than any other Balmain Referee

It is only fitting that the this Award for the Best Performing Senior Referee in a Grand Final is named after the Association's most decorated referee.
