Bakie Booster August Meeting 8/8/22
Next meeting: Wed. Sept 14th @6pm At Carriage Town Bar and Grill

General info:
• Bakie Open House- Date TBD (I think) ? set up table to have people sign up for the Boosters?
• Bakie Meet and Greet- August 26th
• Facility use forms will need to be filled out- Ask Jeane for copies of last years to have starting
point
• Members should take crowd control online class
Info from Troy:
• Sandbox size has tripled
• Troy is taking inventory of sand toys before accepting donations
• Classrooms have been rearranged, will be renumbered and new emergency evacuation signs put
up
• We have enough hats for the incoming kindergarteners
• Field trips are coming back. Troy is asking each grade to come up with at least 1 on
campus/walking distance experience and 1 off campus one
• Troy can help us with the google forms so we can better organize volunteers. He will need us to
tell him what info we want. We are thinking the events for the upcoming 2 moths with
descriptions of the events and possible job descriptions that need to be filled
Events
Reach the Beach Sept. 17th (Lead: Erin)
• First event
• So far only 3 volunteers have signed up
• Key club will be there and can watch children for volunteers if need be- Key club coordinator will
send out message to the club as it is before their first meeting
Things that still need to be done:
^ See what food we have in the Booster closet
^ Send out food donation list in sign up genius
^ Get Flyer to Troy
Restaurant Nights (possible new lead: Jaclin)
• Boosters used to do a restaurant night once a month
• We do not have 503c status so some chain restaurants will not do them for us
• Possible places that may be open to doing a night: Acios, What’s the Scoop, Saddle Up Saloon
• First night has already been set up for Flatbread Pizza in Amesbury (last year raised $800)
Things that still need to be done:
^ Flyers/Posts to promote the event
^ 3x3 sign saying Thank You for Supporting the Bakie Boosters (possibly from Staples
with Bakie Logo)
^ Come up with script to help Jaclin make calls to other restaurants
Meadow Farms Sale (Lead: Erin)
• Runs for 2 weeks around Columbus Day
• Books that go home with kids
• Also link that can be sent to kids families to buy online
Things that still need to be done:
^ unsure
Spooktacular (Lead:Donna, Amanda helping)
• October 28th from 5-7
• Spooky Bus from Camp Lincoln confirmed (cost?)
• Kona Ice confirmed (I think Elizabeth said this was confirmed already)- Parents will pay for the
treats and Kona will donate some money back
• 2 Food trucks have confirmed (Bee’s tacos?) and Gracie’s Pizza
• Key club to do stations like face painting and lawn pumpkin bowling, coloring station
Additional Ideas that were brought up:
^ ? Pit bike show- ? need insurance, able to do it on school grounds?
^ DJ for dance party?
^ ? More lighting- Troy to see if we have portable lights
^ bring a decorated pumpkin contest- Prizes Tye dyes shirts
^ ? use fog machine
^? Halloween movie on projector
Things that still need to be done:
^ Coordinate with Key club
^Decide on adding any additional elements from above list
^Sign up genius for volunteers and for food donations
Fall Clothing Drive (Lead: Elizabeth)
• To be paired with Spooktacular
• Elizabeth to collect and bring to Elation Salon to be washed then back to nurse
• Nurse to pick what she needs and will donate the rest
• ? Shoe drive as well this year
Fall Book Fair (Leads Kayla and Amanda)
• Set up Nov. 22
• Fair Nov. 28th
- Dec 2
• Fall book fair is not BOGO
• ? If shop ahead is still a good idea due to kids at the end of the week being unable to purchase
the books they had picked
• Troy would like Laura, the new Library Specialist to be involved
• Late Night on Thursday? Would like to pair it with something else if possible
Spring Book Fair (Leads Kayla and Amanda)
• Dates?
Raffle Baskets (Leads Amanda and Sam)
• Paired with Santa Breakfast and Spaghetti dinner
• Each class with come up with a theme- either it will be assigned or class parent to come up with
it (there are 16 classes)
• Parents donate things for that theme to the raffle
• Half the tickets are sold at Santa breakfast and half at Spaghetti dinner
• Cost of tickets?
• Themes that have been done before: Beach, Date night, Camp out, Gift cards, Cash is King,
Legos, Movies, Nerf, Lottery tickets, Crafts, Ice cream, Chocolate
• Troy to have some themes for the baskets by Nov. 1
Things left to do:

^ send out flyers?
^ posts showing off each basket
Santa Breakfast (Leads: Jaqueline and Shannon)
• Dec. 10th 8-11
• Pics with Santa- we have a suit
• Coloring Stations
• Boosters buy the supplies and pancakes are made on site at Bakie- (Troy checking to make sure
we can use the kitchen)
Spaghetti Dinner (Lead: Amanda)
• Date? In Feb
• Troy to see if we can use kitchen
• Amanda has contacts that may be able to help
Spirit Wear (Lead: Elizabeth)
• Store front should be up in Sept.
Someone Special Dance (lead: Kayla, Bob helping)
• March 10th
• ? need to move location from Swasey Gym because of parking situation with ongoing
construction
• Other possible venues: the Plains (with a tent?) or Highschool Gym
• Theme: ? Under the Sea
• ? Change people $5 a family
• ? get photo booth vs photographer- High school may have one that can be borrowed
• DJ from last year? (Erin has his card)
• Sign up Genuis for food/ drink donations
Other Ideas
• Contacting Sweet Hill Farm about possible Pumpkin fund raiser instead of doing one with
Newton Greenhouse
• Thankful grams
• Valentines grams
