On the Church website go to the Ward and Branch Callings page for beginning instruction and resources.
That same link and other helpful links can be found on the Helper Resources Page on FamilySearch. Two very appropriate categories with links are: "Calling Information", and "FamilySearch Planner Tutorial Videos." Note: this page will not come up unless you have previously signed in to your FamilySearch account.
Once the consultants have finished with the above resources, one of the best places to get training is the series of Online classes at the Riverton FamilySearch Library. go to the Riverton FamilySearch Library/Online Classes page and scroll down to the Ward Consultants-Online section. There are two classes taught live on Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Mountain Time. There is a 6 page downloadable PDF handout that will help. They welcome participants from all over the world, but you must register to participate.
Another great place for consultants to learn what they need to know is the online class at the Lehi Utah FamilySearch Center. Scroll down to the Temple & Family History Consultant Preparation class description for m are details and class handouts.

Two other great resources for beginning to advanced instruction in Family History with literally hundreds of classes, webinars, and videos are the BYU Family History Library, and The main Family History Library of the Church.
The Family History Guide has numerous resources, but rather than trying to navigate the entire site, begin at the Get Started Page and read through one of the categories listed there. Perhaps go to the "FamilySearch" link under "Learn and Explore." That link takes you to a page with 14 activities or projects that teach a great deal about FamilySearch.
