In-Barn Leasing for Beginner Riders
Avon Valley Show Stables offers in barn lease options to current riders. Leasing provides a wonderful for riders to practice their skills on one consistent horse or pony. Generally, riders will have up to 2 hours with “their” pony. 30 minutes is spent grooming and tacking up, followed by riding for up to an hour (riding time includes warming up and cooling down at the walk), followed by 30 minutes of untacking and putting the horse away. Lessees are expected to take two lessons per week. The lesson fee is not included in the price of the lease. Please note that due to our busy lesson program, the available times of some school horses may be limited. Any missed riding days may not be rescheduled; if a day is missed, they are forfeit. AVSS is not required to provide an additional horse in the event a lease horse is lame.
For all Flat, XR, Novice, and Intermediate leases, the portion of board the lessee is responsible for depends on the days/week frequency of the lease. ¼ of the base board will cover a 2 day lease, ½ for 3 days, and ¾ for 4 days. Beyond this, we suggest riders begin looking into full leases where they pay full board and have their horse every day of the week!
Full Leasing for Advanced Riders
Advanced riders are looking for their next competitive show partner. We recommend exploring Full Lease options to take advanced riders further in jump height and competition level. Full leases are distinguished from beginner In-Barn leases in that full lessors do not "share" the horse with any other rider. Full leases are typically one-year terms. Insurance, vet bills, farrier bills, and other expenses are additional costs. Your fully-leased horse is essentially yours for the term of the lease, and there may be options to purchase. The team at AVSS works to find you the perfect horse/rider match! Talk to your trainers to start this process.
