The Program:
Riders will learn about:
horsemanship, the art and principles of working with equines.
grooming, the parts of tack, different breeds of horse, color markings, health of horses, bathing, and overall care of our equine friends.
Riders will practice grooming and tacking up horses each day. And we're always sure to include a few baths in the weekly activities!
Riders will ride and complete various exercises that are aligned to their level of riding. Beginner and experienced riders will be in different groups to allow for safety and focus on riding skills
Riders will have an opportunity to take walks in the field, ride bareback and play other mounted and unmounted games.
Please note, the riding portion of the program is determined completely based on safety. Riders will be permitted to participate in various levels of activity based on his or her individual skill set. In addition, it is important to note that weather is also a factor when riding.
The camp counselors pay very close attention to the heat index - and for the safety of the riders and horses will make adjustments to ensure everyone’s safety from the heat and other weather factors.
