The wood is a rare habitat known as Temperate Rainforest and is classified as a part of the European Temperate Rainforest. It has oak, birch, ash, pine, alder and hazel trees. Temperate Rainforests are more verdant than other forests with more moss, fungi and lichen. There are at least 19 different species of fungi in the wood. An unusual colour variant of Toad. These are common toads, but there are several unusual colour variations of toads in the wood.
Foxglove
Foxfire - bioluminescent mycelium found in the bark of rotting logs. Seen occasionally when chopping logs. It only glows for 24 hours as it is the result of an oxidising effect. It is possibly related to the Armillaria mella fungi.
