Research Interests:

I am interested in how we navigate social interactions, including how to communicate effectively and how to learn from others. In particular, I am interested in how autistic people may engage in social interactions differently to neurotypical people and what impact this difference might have in everyday contexts (like school or work).

My most recent project focusses on the experiences of neurodivergent people during online interactions, with a view to identifying the specific strengths and challenges of this type of social encounter. This is highly topical during the Covid-19 pandemic as online interactions have become a frequent part of daily life. You can find out more about this project here.

Finally, I run the Autism Social Network at the University of Nottingham. To find out more about the network, click here.
