Research Interests:

My research background is in cultural evolution and social learning, and in particular a phenomenon known as cumulative culture - the human ability to learn from each other to improve things over time (often until we get really complex stuff like spaceships and computers). I am now excited to be applying methods commonly used in this field to autism research with Professor Danielle Ropar. We are interested in how autistic and non-autistic people communicate with each other and how information of different forms is transmitted between autistic and non-autistic people. You can read more about our current project here: https://sites.google.com/view/autismresearchnottingham/current-projects/diversity-in-social-intelligence-replication.

Before entering the world of academia, I trained as a primary school teacher and spent time working with autistic pupils.
