Texas tops the list of greatest butterfly diversity in the United States, with over 400 species recorded. The Austin area alone is home to 170 species of butterflies, and over 300 species of moths

Abundant

These are the butterflies you know and love! Ubiquitous but beautiful. You probably have too many pictures of these and no longer pay attention when they flutter by. How dare you!

Common

Not as abundant as those found in the above category but still quite common

Occasional

If you're out in the field on the reg, you may have seen one of these. And it was likely memorable.

Uncommon

You would definitely remember spotting one of these.

Rare

But did you? Are you certain? Pics or it didn't happen!

Stray

Again, prove it with pics! And be sure to send them to us :)
