Caminos at La Mujer

La Mujer: A Celebration of Women

For the past decade, this festival was originally inspired by Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, who is considered the first feminist of the Americas. The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center has an will continue to highlight the accomplishments of mujeres, womxn, who inspire us!

La Mujer is a multidisciplinary festival that features a lineup of musicians, poets, visual artists, and womxn business owners participating in community building, networking, education, and entertainment. The event features a Womxn of Color artisan mercado curated by Frida Friday ATX and food trucks from the community.

Since Caminos' founding in 2017, the Caminantes have been an integral part of the celebration, from participating in the staffing of the event, to creating works of art, like the "La Mujer: A Tribute to Women", the mosaic mural the Caminos Class of 2018 created.

Above and below, you see the Caminos class of 2018 presenting their mural, and having fun at La Mujer 2017.
