annual Art Showcase

2024 Art Showcase Info COMING SOON

why a showcase?

Caminos, as much as it is an art program, is also a program where professional development is essential. For artists, galleries and showcases play a big part in their careers, especially in getting started. So, every year, the Caminantes get a chance to showcase the art they've made, whether part of the activities of their internship or not! Sometimes, this showcase coincides with their graduation or other events the MACC or other collaborators might hold. Read on to see some of our past showcases.

Put up for show at Teen Central at the Austin Central Public Library, the Showcase opened with the Caminantes' graduation in the Spring of 2023. It was then left up for a couple weeks after the session ended. It included pieces made during Caminos Sessions with the year's teaching artist, Miguel Santana, and pieces they made on their own.

Founded in 2017, Caminos has achieved many things in its time. Turning 5 in 2022, the Caminantes of that year were able to host and participate in the Caminos 5th Anniversary Showcase.

The Showcase was held in the ESB-MACC's Community Gallery in the Spring of 2022, we invited the community, people we've worked with, and Caminantes of all generations to come celebrate!

The event had many activities including group spraypainting, mosaics, painting, and more. The Community Gallery showcased art from the Caminos of 2022 and from the classes before it, those being Classes of 2018, '19, '20, and '21. More info at the event page.

When the pandemic hit in 2020 - Caminos' 4th cohort began. For the better part of the year, all the programming and meetings were hel online, even that year's Breaking Barriers, which ended up being a 2-hour Zoom Meeting open for anyone to join. However, lockdown was lifted midway through the Spring Semester and the class was able to have their graduation and showcase in person at the ESB-MACC.
