This has been a long awaited experience for this group. Not only were they so accommodating, but they really do invest in the youth and Austin overall. Our tour was nothing short of amazing. We were able to witness a very old Austin that's not as acknowledge. It was many of our first times witnessing and understanding what the Old Bakery had to offer. We started the day with a personal tour led by exhibit curator Herlinda Zamora and researcher Marienne Duran Henríquez, learning the history of the building and ended with checking out the gift shop!

It felt so great being able to also witness  this astonishing mural that had a nice blend of Swedish and Indigenous cultural themes. In Fall 2023, a public call for artists was released, drawing in over 50 submissions from talented local and national artists. An independent panel of seven local art and mural experts reviewed, interviewed and selected Ruben Esquivel for the first mural in the series. After the artist selection, muralist Ruben Esquivel established three concepts that explored the Indigenous heritage of Austin and the Swedish legacy of the Old Bakery.
