Left Warm Bay 6pm, paddled to Pike Bay, arriving 8pm.
Little wind but moderate waves, mixed cloud. Few mosquitos.
We started our paddle from Warm Bay where the water was a green blue colour. The sky was cloudy and threatening rain, a match to the weather we had been having all summer in the southern Yukon and northern BC. The waters were too choppy to see colors in the water.
We stopped just past O'Donnell River to eat dinner, which we had bought in Whitehorse before we left. Expecting rain we kept the stop short. Kim was a bit tired so we decided to only paddle to Pike Bay.
At the entrance of Pike Bay there is a wall tent and building, flying a Canadian flag. Just around the corner is a sheltered cove with sandy beaches were we camped. It is a well-used site with rock fire-pit, 2 outhouses, and many places to pitch tents. A fish drying rack is set a bit back from the beach, looking unused for the past season or two.
By the time we arrived and setup camp the clouds had moved off and we got to see a gorgeous full double rainbow to the east with the inner ring being brighter. The bay waters were calm and a a rich blue colour.
In Pike bay there were scattered islands. Some smaller and a larger one we had to pass by to enter the bay. Next time we would explore the islands more, we suspect camping sites there also.
