Reflections by Students
"The best part of my work experience was that it gave me the opportunity to reflect on how lucky I was to be able to be healthy and speak normally, it also shed light on the fact that I should not take simple things like being able to speak for granted but instead be grateful for everything I have in life.
I was surprised to discover that I had an encouraging personality that is rooted deeply in me. This is because despite not knowing the patient personally, I realised that when they were struggling to speak I actually encouraged them to the best of my ability and motivated them to continue persevering through their challenge of not being able to repeat or remember certain words. Furthermore, I also discovered that I find happiness in other peoples’ joy. When one of the patients were able to recall a sentence after multiple attempts, I was extremely elated and was filled with joy and was so happy for them on their behalf, it made me feel satisfied that their efforts were not futile and that the patients were able to acknowledge and believe that."
JC Law Programme (JCLP)
"The best part of my work experience was the supreme court tour as there was an actual court hearing going on and we had the opportunity to see lawyers in action, arguing for the case, which gave me a realistic insight to the career.
This experience has confirmed my interest in taking up law as a profession as at first I still have doubts if I am suitable for this career choice. It has influenced and motivated me to work hard to be able to apply for Law courses in England as well as Singapore."
Agape Little Uni
"The best part of the work experience was interacting with the kids as it gave me great joy to work with such cute and innocent souls. I have to admit that their show of genuine affection to someone whom they only know for a few days really warmed my heart.
I learnt that I like to help the teachers as it made me feel that I made a difference. Their words of thanks and encouragement really spurred me on.
To reach my career goal, I hope to secure a MOE Teaching Scholarship at NIE and become a teacher."
