I am a graduate of Longwood University where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with concentration in Secondary Education. I also hold a Master's degree in Reading from Virginia Commonwealth University. I received a Post Master's Certificate in Educational Leadership from Longwood University in August 2018. I am licensed to teach in Virginia with endorsements in English 6-12, Reading Specialist, and Administration and Supervision PreK-12.
I began my career in Education in 2009 teaching 9th grade English at Varina High School in Henrico, Virginia. Henrico County Public Schools has offered a wealth of experiences and roles including teacher, content team leader, reading specialist, literacy coach, new teacher mentor coordinator, school based grant program coordinator, and administrative intern. I also have a wealth of experience leading professional learning at local, state, and national conferences. I currently serve as a high school assistant principal.
Education is not only my career; it is my calling and my passion. In everything that I do, the well-being of students is my top concern. Each day, parents entrust us educators with their most precious cargo; I consider myself lucky to be a professional in a field where we are given such trust and opportunity.
I am most passionate about literacy and ensuring that all students have the opportunity to learn and have positive experiences with reading.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Tyree, and three children: Trenton, Tristan, and Aubrey.
