The journey of raising a child with disabilities—both visible and invisible—can be very challenging. The Ashburnham-Westminster Special Education Parent Advisory Council offers support to parents and guardians in Ashburnham and Westminster, MA, during both the great moments as well as the difficult ones. Our group offers the opportunity to discuss different strategies for each child’s educational needs as well as opportunities to hear great speakers.
Through our collaboration with the Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District’s Special Education Department, we learn how to advocate for our children with learning differences in order to help them succeed as students and live the best lives possible. Whether your child is on an IEP, 504 Plan, or might just need extra help, our group can lend you support and guidance.
If you are a parent or guardian concerned about your child, but don’t know where to begin to seek educational services and support, we can provide advice and direction about:
AWRSD’s special education system
Special education services
How to navigate the special education process
Information about initial testing
Guidance on what to expect at your first IEP meeting
We are here to help.
We want to work together for our children’s future in our support of caregivers and parents of children with learning differences.
The Ashburnham-Westminster Special Education Parent Advisory Council enables both students and parents to embark on a journey of self-advocacy as educated, informed members of their own educational team and as future productive members of society at large.
