In 2018, I participated in Global Game Jam for the very first time. This was the first time I had ever produced a game as part of a team, which consisted of myself and three other Bath Spa students. The premise of the game is simple: in the early 80s, a concerned mother contacts a local detective agency to inquire about the reopening of an investigation into her daughter's disappearance, a case which has been cold for over thirty years. The entire game is played from behind the desk of a private investigator, who must piece the mystery together from little more than occasional scraps of evidence pushed under their door. Of course, given the strict 48-hour deadline of Global Game Jam, combined with our own inexperience of game development at the time, the game was never finished and today remains little more than a semi-working prototype.
Another project which never truly had a chance to shine, 1983 still showed an artistic flare and unique concept.
You can still download the 'game' via the Global Game Jam website here, where credit is also given to the other members of the development team.
