Welcome to the Department of Broadcast Communication Level IV Phase 2 (Cycle 2) Accreditation Microsite!
In alignment with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines' (PUP) vision of becoming a globally recognized and competitive institution, the Department of Broadcast Communication, continues to deepen its commitment to internationalization by fostering collaborative engagements across borders. Rooted in the department’s motto of delivering Creative, Critical, and Caring media education, DBC is actively building academic and cultural bridges with international institutions to prepare faculty and students to thrive in a global communication landscape.
As part of this global thrust, DBC has opened its doors to international visiting lecturers and professionals from partner universities, providing students with access to diverse pedagogical approaches, global media practices, and cross-cultural dialogue. These engagements help enrich the teaching and learning process, strengthen media literacy, and promote intercultural competencies.
To further expand international opportunities, the College has established faculty and student exchange programs through formal partnerships and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with reputable academic institutions abroad. These partnerships allow pre-service communicators and educators to engage in international teaching and learning environments, participate in research collaborations, and gain firsthand experience of media education and production practices in various cultural contexts.
Among DBC’s current international partners are: Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Malaysia), Asia Pacific Public Relations Research & Education Network (APPREN), Southeast Asian Media Studies Association (SEAMSA), Veritas Asia Institute of Social Communications (Thailand), Pacific and Asian Communication Association (PACA) and Selected universities in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
These collaborations have led to meaningful exchanges, joint webinars, regional symposia, and international extension works that echo the department’s mission to cultivate media practitioners who are socially responsible, globally aware, and deeply engaged in both local and international contexts.
With these initiatives, the Department of Broadcast Communication proudly contributes to the University’s mission of producing globally competent graduates who are equipped with the relevant communication skills to serve in government, non-government, and corporate sectors. The department’s drive toward internationalization is more than mobility—it is about fostering global citizenship, cross-cultural communication, and ethical media leadership, all anchored in DBC’s guiding principles of Creativity, Criticality, and Care.
