In class demonstration: I'll show you how to simplify the process of drawing a complicated pattern of feathers on a rounded form. We'll start with the general shape of the body, head, neck, wings, tail, and legs, and then sketch the general lines of the patterns around the curve of the body before further dividing into individual feathers.
We will also look at the outspread bird's wing and practice sketching from a 2D reference.
I have changed the homework assignment of drawing a bird with a complicated feather pattern as I realize that it is too advanced for the amount of time that we have together. INSTEAD you will draw a bird from a 2D reference photo using the method demonstrated in the video above.
IF you are feeling ambitious and have extra time, HERE'S A DEMONSTRATION ON DRAWING FEATHERED PATTERNS ON A BIRD. IT IS AN ADVANCED DRAWING DEMONSTRATION. : LINK TO VIDEO
I WILL ALSO POST A DEMONSTRATION ON DRAWING BIRDS FROM A 2D REFERENCE.

I will hold our class until 8 pm this evening to make up for the time we lost last week. We will discuss the work you've submitted, work on our marine life until 7 pm, and then
resume our ornithology project from 7-8 pm. If you are unable to stay for the extra time, you can watch the recording of class, which will be available by tomorrow morning.
