These pictures were captured during the time the artist loft project took shape. The project overlapped several significant happenings in my own experience and it is possible that all of these things influenced the look and feel of the lofts in one way or another. These happenings required me to travel a fair amount and when I found myself moved by a situation I took a shot. Often all I had on me was a cell phone. When I could not write a sentence to correspond with friends, I would just email a group of images from the phone. Slowly, the pictures became a journal or visual poem that expressed how strange it felt to be in this world and on a journey in search of attachments but feeling detached from my surroundings. The images above are a way of putting these disparate elements into some manageable form within the general context of beauty. Perhaps this is an important function of art: to connect the inexplicable quantity of random experience into a cohesive thing we can look at.
