Introductory Horse 3-Day Camp
If you have a child who is interested in horses or thinks they want a horse, now is your chance for them to learn what is involved.
This introductory Horse Camp is for beginners with no or little horse experience or those needing more beginning riding practice. Your child has the opportunity to get up close and personal with a horse, groom, and learn safety and basic riding skills in group lessons. Learn about some of the work required to have your own horse, care for equipment and the barn. Plus learn about horse colors, markings, breeds, training and communicating with the horse. Parents have the option to come after camp and supervise your child to cool off in our pool up until 1:00.
$250* for the 3 days
Suggested ages 8-15
Note: There are facilities in our area that charge $80 an hour for private horse lessons. This camp is almost the same price per day as ONE of those lessons but you get three hours a day with the horses plus an optional parent supervised swim!
Camp space is very limited so hurry and get in your registration and payment.
*There is an additional fee if you pay by PayPal or Venmo under the business portion.
2-Day Horse Camp (Trotting Games)
July 29 and 30, 2025
If you take horse lessons or want more trotting practice, this is the camp for you. Camp lets you experience games and group activities that you do not during regular riding lessons.
Join us for this group horse experience. Camp includes grooming, group riding instruction, horsemanship, and horse care. Plus take home information to remember horse colors, horse vocabulary, and more.
You must be able to turn your horse at a trot and safely and properly stop to join in this camp. The beginning horse camp is not quite enough practice. You will need more lessons to join in this camp.
Based on 4-H and the Certified Horsemanship Association standards
$160 for the 2 days
Suggested ages 9-17

FAQ:
Why should I choose your horse camp?
Our horse camp focuses on very small groups with personal attention. Our ratio of staff to campers varies from one-on-one, one staff to two riders after the first ride, and at most is one staff to three campers when around the horses. We have been hosting short horse camps since 2008, with the goal of providing a program that is affordable to those who cannot or do not want to do a whole week of horse camp.
What is the difference between Horse Camp and normal lessons?
During camp we teach areas of horsemanship that are not covered during a riding lesson. For example, campers may study the different breeds of horses, colors, and markings, and learn about a few famous horses. They learn more of the names of parts of the horse, the saddle and the bridle pieces. Plus they learn about care of horse living quarters and equipment that is not done during lessons such as cleaning stalls, paddock and tack room, and how to soap and oil saddles and bridles. Campers have discussions about horse feed and illnesses, and go more deeply into "horse speak." Often the favorite highlight is to bathe a horse.
Should my beginning child start with horse lessons or Intro Horse Camp?
The Intro Horse Camp is a great way to introduce your child to horses. During both horse lessons and camp a student learns to groom a horse along with the private one-on-one riding instruction. However grooming is a group activity during camp so if you have a very fearful child that has not yet been around a horse, they will get better one-on-one time for getting close to the horse and grooming during a private lesson.
Is my child advanced enough for the 2-Day Trotting Games Camp?
At the 2-Day horse camp, all lessons include groups. That means your child needs to be able to follow directions and handle working in a group. This is especially important during the grooming and riding lessons. Your child needs to already be familiar with the steps of grooming a horse but will be given help to remember all that is needed. Your child needs to have had trotting lessons, not just done a trot at the beginner's camp. More importantly, your child needs to have had practice on a horse within the last few months. I find that children forget easily and would need to have at least one brush up lesson prior to this camp if they have not ridden in the last 6 months. While in the riding lesson, they will need to keep their horse at a safe distance from all other riders so must be able to turn well and stop comfortably from the trot.
Will a waiver need to be signed?
A waiver must be signed for this camp and parents must carry medical insurance on their child.
